Programme
Wednesday 25th September
All supporters will arrive in Bucharest in preparation for the official tour of the work of Children in Distress which commences on Thursday. There will be free time to use the hotel gym and sauna or explore Bucharest. We will join each other for an informal dinner which will be provided to allow us to get to know one another.
Thursday 26th September
Thursday will commence with a visit to Casa Maria to meet the children in their new home in Bucharest. Lunch will be provided as will the opportunity to talk to the staff and children.
In the evening we are delighted to be hosting the Charity Heroes Gala Dinner at Bragadiru Palace, Bucharest. The venue for the dinner is spectacular and will provide the opportunity to celebrate and thank all those who have impacted upon the work of the charity over the past 35 years.
Friday 27th September
On Friday we will travel to Sinaia, a town in the Carpathian Mountains. We'll take a tour of Peles Castle (the former summer residence of the Royal family) and enjoy a packed lunch.
In the afternoon we will travel to Zarnesti to see the space that has been secured for the PineView Retreat Lodge project and learn about the vision for its realisation and benefit to the local communities.
Then we'll travel to Brasov, a charming, well preserved old medieval city in the Transylvania region of Romania, which is fringed by the Carpathian Mountains and resplendent with gothic, baroque and renaissance architecture. There will be free time to explore the old town and dinner will be provided at a restaurant in Brasov.
Saturday 28th September
We will celebrate our 35th anniversary with a Thanksgiving Service at the Church of the Resurrection, Bucharest, followed by lunch.
There will be the opportunity to explore Bucharest in the afternoon, including a return visit to Casa Maria for those interested. After which we will join up again for dinner, which will be provided at a local restaurant in Bucharest.
Sunday 29th September
There will be a 10am worship at the Church of the Resurrection and free time in Bucharest for those interested.
Lunch will not be provided as individuals will be leaving today and this will provide the opportunity to explore Bucharest before heading off to the airport.
Costings
Total cost for the programme of events is £650 per person.
Breakdown of price:
- Accommodation – 4 nights including breakfast – £280
- Food – Lunches and Dinner – £245
- Gala Dinner – £50
- Transport – £75
This time we are asking that you book your own flights which we estimate are currently between £200 – £280 per person, depending on where you fly from. Once your flight details are confirmed, if you share them with us, we can co-ordinate airport transfers using the Romanian Charity Minibus.
Please ensure you also arrange your own travel insurance for the trip.
