St Thomas Hospice, Slobozia, and St. Paraschiva Community Nursing Programme, Braila - Partnership Programmes

Partnership Programmes - St Thomas Hospice, Slobozia, and St. Paraschiva Community Nursing Programme, Braila In association with the Fundatia Associata Vasiliada St Thomas Hospice, Slobozia, and St. Paraschiva Community Nursing Programme, Braila This project is funded by Children in Distress and managed by our partners the Funda_ia Cuvioasa Paraschiva. The Braila Community project compliments the hospice and children’s placement centre in Slobozia that was formerly run by Children in Distress as St Thomas’s Hospice. From its base, the Funda_ia Cuvioasa Paraschiva team supports twenty five children throughout Braila and Iolamite counties living with HIV AIDS or in the final phase of terminal illness. These are the poorest rural agricultural counties in Romania. The children are the very poorest of the poor, who not only require medication and nursing care but basic life support particularly in the winter when firewood for heating and cooking, food and clothing are scarce. The small projects team of nurses and assistants are from time to time overwhelmed by the demands for palliative care and support.
