Jocey Twine is a paediatric Occupational therapist, having worked in this role for 12 years and previously for 10 years as an Occupational Therapist for adults with learning difficulties. As an OT she is trained to look holistically at people and focuses on daily needs, getting involved with equipment to help carers meet care needs, and individual programmes to help the individual to become part of their life. Jocey currently leads a group of three therapists and one technician in three special schools. The special schools are all for children with profound learning difficulties and medical problems, such as quadriplegic cerebral palsy and acute feeding problems. Many of the children need around the clock care and attention. Many of the children in her schools have other diagnosis like autism; ie Autism and profound learning disabilities. Some have genetic disorders, multiple health problems and life limiting conditions. Her work in CID, is strongly influenced by her professional role and she try to bring her experience into enhancing the lives of the children in the hospices by helping with seating management and in developing appropriate activities for engagement and t with the children, and together with colleagues training workshops have been organised, to influence best practise through demonstration, on positions for feeding and sensory integration and reducing deformities.
