Let there be light, in Kirkby’s re-painted Thrift Shop

THe job is finished and the paint drying

Volunteers, Bryn Clode, Chris Gilbert & Paul Wedgewood ably assisted by family members of the Kirkbymoorside thrift shop staff, recently rallied round to give this popular thrift shop a much-needed spring clean. For eight years, this successful little shop has served its local community whilst raising funds to help the children cared for by the Charity.  Ever a place to ’bag a bargain’ and to collect new essentials for handcrafts and knitting, although always spick and span, because of its regularly high footfall the shop has not been redecorated since opening day.

Roy Wheeler, the Charity’s much loved Local Ambassador, who masterminded this initiative shared with web news “It was generally agreed that it was high time the Kirkby’s Thrift Shop had a little spruce up just to brighten its face and make it an even more welcoming bargain centre. This was quite a job given the wealth of stock on display and in store, however the sales team rose to the challenge, incentivised by the fact that the painting needed to be complete before new floor covering was laid at the beginning of August.

This wonderful team of volunteer painters and the other helping hands freely gave of their time and the local Church Council of the Fellowship in Stokesley have generously donated funds to make this project possible and to see new cushioned vinyl flooring installed”

All of us Children in Distress would like to thank all of the volunteers involved and our friends in the local Guisborough and Stokesley Fellowship churches for their generous support. The doors are always open and bargains galore and Shop Manager Gillian Wilson is ever ready with the warmest of welcomes. So keep the address in mind 31 Market Place, Kirkbymoorside North Yorks, YO62 6AA
