“Happy birthday, Madalin and many happy returns!”

Birthday boy with his cake and gifts

Madalin is a real survivor, who despite his exceptional hydrocephalus and the numerous life challenges thrown his way, recently celebrated his 19th birthday. His care team couldn’t be happier or prouder to have been part of his life. For the ‘birthday boy’, the day started on a high by getting dressed in a new outfit bought specially for the occasion and he proudly roamed the hallways and wards until about noon gathering best wishes from the centre’s residents and staff. Then everyone gathered round to celebrate raising a toast of favourite fruit juice and to taste a delicious anniversary slice of cake. Madalin had his presents from so many thoughtful people, his carers, friends and family. His favourite nurse Violeta, had ordered a special birthday cake for her “adopted son” as she enjoys calling him, and she made sure that her had also bought his favourite model of musical toy, to entertain him.

Although it has seemed to pass so quickly, it has been another great year with his extended family of care at St Andrew’s where the team are just delighted to be able to organize events for residents making them feel appreciated and special. CID makes sure all of the children’s needs are met, so they wished Madalin a belated happy birthday by sending a beautiful present just in time for his party, which included a nice buttoned up tee shirt, as Madalin needs to dressed easily and summer shorts just right for his long outings  around the park. The atmosphere and happy faces, thoughts, laughter and fun visibly moved Madalin. It was a great day spent surrounded by friends and their love.
