Vladut’s story about finding shelter and how CID”s family of care helps him start life anew

Valdut with his present

So far, life has not been very kind to Vladut and it is almost inconceivable that he would lose his Dad and baby sister following a horrific car accident. The psychological turmoil can’t be described and usually, many years have to pass after a crisis like this to return to a seemingly normal life. With the help of a gifted medical team and several surgical operations, Vladut, has regained his physical health He lives with the  nightmares he continues to experience but with the support  of  people around him and encourage him , he takes one day at a time and  fight for a normal  life.

When he arrived at St Cristofer’s he was painfully shy, introverted, sad and gloomy, a child unable to smile or attend the daily activity programme for longer periods of time. After the initial shock of introduction and following an accommodation period, Vladut started to like Saint Cristofer’s centre and his new friends gave him time, treated him with kindness and understanding and waited for him to get to terms with his new reality. He is now fully integrated, a part of the group of young people at the centre, despite his understandable somewhat darker moments, when he seems to revert to being shy and isolates himself from his peers. A few days ago, he experienced just such a moment when his vision got cloudy and his frowned forehead warned of his unsettling thoughts. He received a present from some very considerate and big-hearted project supporters and thank God, for them, and for a few seconds this young boy hugged his parcel close to his heart wanting to forget everything except the generous gesture of people who did not know him. The St Cristofer’s team are very happy to have such wonderful friends who enjoy surprising the children like Vladut, in our care and brightening their days with generous gestures. Vlad thanks you too for his present and sends positive thoughts to you.
