Getting ready for Easter the Saint Christopher’s way

Getting ready for Easter

In the Orthodox Church tradition,Holy Week started on the 1st of April this year.  With the Easter vacation swiftly approaching the children at Saint Christopher’s in Curtea de Arges prepared to welcome the children of the Elementary School in the village of Calotesti and together they spent a memorable day where Easter traditions were the focus of an interesting and even an ‘egg’citing  arts and crafts workshop.

The children look forward to welcoming guests and this meeting began on a high, with outdoors activities, games, fun and  proper childhood games to let off a little steam. Thereafter, they all gathered around their respective worktables, chatting and sharing ideas, and deciding who would supervise what, whilst lingering over glasses of fruit juice and fresh-baked cookies to facilitate their masterplan.

The Craft Workshop included the centuries old tradition of decorating eggs using beautiful historic floral motifs or creating traditional scenes from scratch. Everyone was eager to paint and decorate as many eggs as possible and to put their talents to good use, because the money collected from selling the eggs during a fayre held at the school will be donated to those children in need of ‘a little extra help, who attend the Centre. The cold hard-boiled eggs had been pre-prepared by the team leaders so that the kids could be ultra-creative throughout the workshop. The most beautiful egg received a prize at the end of a very fulfilling and productive day. All the kids had an eye to the prize but in the end, it was  one of the visitors who scooped the prize; however everyone was content with the judge’s final decision.

To ensure that this became a day to remember, Saint Christopher’s children offered everyone a beautiful red T-shirt announcing the arrival of Easter. in all, a great day spent in great company which brightened the day for all involved  happy to see that CID Kids know, how to host an event, how to entertain their guests  and in the  nicest  way offer them a gift to remember.
