“Jeans4Dreams” St. Andrew’s Pitesti

Making their presenation

On 28th February, the team at St Andrew’s Centre in Piteşti hosted a “Jeans4Dreams” event, to support the latest CIDRo initiative aimed at raising funds for children with disabilities and disadvantage in need of specialised care and rehabilitation. The event was organised with the support of St Andrew’s Specialist Therapists and Project Coordinator, Mariana Mandreanu who opened the event with a speech of welcome, which made clear the goals of this wonderful gathering.

Children were at the centre of everyone’s attention, in an exhibition, which included all their wonderful drawings. Each child with special needs presented his or hers work and their aspiration and dreams for adulthood. The exhibition was themed around the idea of what would the children like to become when they grow up and how they imagine the world to be in the future. The kids had enthusiastically worked on their drawings in the weeks before the event and when asked, happily discussed their ideas, dreams, hopes and how they see themselves becoming a grownup. They were delighted to be able to draw, to  select and  use their favourite colours and design beautiful shapes as therapeutic art  is one of their favourite past times.

This event hosted and number  of  esteemed guests from the local  community, which included  teachers from Pitesti’s elementary School No 18, the local priest from Saints Constantine and Elena Parish  Church, and the  parents of the  children involved.

St Andrew’s team  hope that this is just the first of many more to come and that  the entire Jeans4 Dreams campaign will bring lots of light, hope and love to our beautiful children who deserve not only to become fully fledged adults but to enjoy their rights and life just like any other citizen would.
