The first snow of winter brightens Pitesti

Fun in the snow

With the end of January in sight, everyone’s thoughts were turning to the joys of Spring and leaving winter’s chills behind, however this year’s ‘Winter Queen’ is determined to ensure she is not forgotten. For much to the children’s delight, this week it unexpectedly started to snow, following a sudden sharp drop in temperatures. The kids were immediately repositioned near the windows to watch nature’s spectacle and to make plans for a potential fun, the snowball fights or just making this year’s first snowman or snow angels.

In an ideal world, Christmas is accompanied by extended hours spent playing in the snow, or using the sleigh around the yard, building snow castles and decorating the garden with a platoon of snowmen. Sadly, until now, there has bene little chance of that ‘perfect’ Christmas and the celebrations lost a little bit of that proverbial ‘perfect’ magic. However, this week, it has finally snowed, and Claudia was in her element being the first to jump for joy, grab the coat and mittens and fly outside to kick start the fun. She rolled around in the snow, had a swift snow fight followed by a frenzy of fort building over the next few days and in making snow angels. Plans were drafted, and prayers well said for continued light dustings of snow so that the layers could grow and become fluffier, covering the entire courtyard much to Claudia’s delight. She did find an immaculate patch of snow where she drew some shapes and decided to leave her imprint so that the frosty night could turn them into long lasting ice moulds of her beautiful palms.

Claudia was not alone in her quest to make the most of this year’s first snow; the St Andrew’s team,  remembered, if only for a couple of hours, what it feels like to be a kid in the snow just like children in their care. Everyone hopes that the snow will fall ‘deep and crisp and even’ so Claudia and her chums can tick all their wish list boxes of planned activities, especially her planned snowman contest and the making of adorable snow angels along her best friends. So…let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!
