Donations to CID’s ‘Love in a Box’ Christmas Shoebox Appeal 2017 come in thick and fast

Volunteers at St Peter’s Church in Aldborough Hatch help to bring Christmas cheer

Members of St Peter’s Church and fellow residents from Aldborough Hatch recently helped send off 102 shoeboxes packed with sweets, toys, toiletries, warm gloves, scarves and hats and decorated with bright Christmas wrapping paper. In the past, the church has sent hundreds of Christmas shoeboxes off to young children and senior citizen living in poverty, in time for the festive season. The boxes are delivered to hospices, homes for orphaned or abandoned children and places where children and old folks are living with extreme urban or rural poverty.

Forty of the boxes of this collection came from the congregation of St James parish church in Halesworth, Suffolk, whilst the remainder, were packed with love by members of St. Peter’s Church and their friends.

Ron Jeffries, of the Aldborough Hatch Defense Association shared: “The scheme gives children and adults who would otherwise have nothing a present at Christmas, boxes. Our were collected from the church on Thursday November 9 It is hoped that they will be added to up to eight thousand or so shoeboxes packed with a variety of goods that will be taken from the UK to Eastern Europe in time for the festive season”.
