Appeal launch attracts interest across Yorkshire

Some of the thousands of boxes Caroline hopes to see collected.

For almost twenty-five years the Children in Distress ‘Love in a Box’ Christmas Appeal  has  sent Christmas shoeboxes packed with gifts to children in Eastern Europe experiencing grinding poverty or social hardship.

Gathered across the UK the boxes packed and shipped for delivery to children in hospices, hospitals centres for orphans or abandoned children or to those living in the direst rural or urban poverty.

CID’s Fundraiser (North) Caroline Wilkie, recently shared with Web news “The Love in a Box Shoebox Appeal 2017 will build on the successful of 24 years of appeals delivering Christmas love in gift boxes filled with gifts, kindness and joy to the poorest infants, children and senior citizens in Europe.”  To help promote the appeal, a Children in Distress ‘Love in a Box’ Christmas Shoebox Event was held at The Sun Inn in Pickering from 3pm to 8pm, “We will be offering refreshments, Christmas gifts and decorations, and selling donated items for Christmas shoeboxes with all proceeds to the Children in Distress Shoebox Appeal.”

Caroline kicked of her appeal programme outside the charity’s Kirkbymoorside Thrift Shop For more information, go to childrenindistress.org or contact the local shop at 31 Market Place, Kirkbymoorside, phone 01751 432406
