Royal visit to St Margaret’s Hospice


HRH Princess Maria of Romania

Her Royal Highness, Princess Maria of Romania has expressed a wish to visit CID’s St Margaret’s Hospice and to hear more of the work of CiD and its sister charities. Her Royal Highness, Princess Maria lives in Bucharest and carries out some of the Royal House’s duties. She lived and studied in Switzerland, and then she spent most of her life in the USA, where she studied infant care. She has actually been working for some time in the childcare field. Princess Maria also previously worked in the field of public relations.

Both the CID Romania and The Princess Margareta of Romania Foundation, have in the past coordinated activities to further their common aims for the development of human potential, solidarity and promotion of Romanian talent and cultural values. In an audience with His Majesty, King Michael, Chief Executive Alisdair Barron, issued an open invitation to visit both the hospice and the charity’s education, community development, civil society, and health projects that have over the last twenty-seven years contributed to the renewal of Romanian society. Princess Maria is well versed in many of the aspects of the work of Children in Distress and its advocacy and promotion of best practice in paediatric, palliative, respite and end of life care, and the development multiple-therapy child development for children with autistic spectrum disorders and genetic neurological and physical disabilities.
