Saint Margaret’s Nurses- Always ready to be the best in our profession


Focussing on best practice 

The team at St Margaret’s Hospice are intent in complying with the European requirements for lifelong learning and continuous personal professional development training.  The centre’s care team of nurses and infirmary staff who take care of the residents’ ward all recently attended a three-day training course entitled “Special care for children with severe disabilities” which took place between the 16th to 18th October 2017.

An experienced certified specialist, and member of (OAMGMAMR) The Organisation of Nurses, Midwives, and Medical Assistants in Romania, led this training event.  The centre’s nursing care professionals were offered insights and information associated with the most up to date theory and best practice care techniques and those methodologies required to keep the children with special needs in the very best of health. Throughout the three-day course, theoretical information was combined with practical care demonstrations and questions, free discussion and debate was encouraged so that all aspects of best practice could be clarified, especially the delivery of  special tailored palliative and respite care needs  and specifics of caring for those children with the most profound disabilities 

 At the end of the course, all the staff were delighted, to have participated and have their knowledge and practice updated and they were particularly confident that everything presented to them would come in handy as they go about their every-day activities, caring for children, easing pain or discomfort and offering love and reassurance.
