News agency actualitatecalarasi.ro, reports news and photos of the joy Shoebox Appeal 2017 brings across Călăraşi County

We share this photograph of a very happy girl meeting Santa Claus

The Children in Distress Foundation (CID Romania) provides access to professional paediatric hospice care and offers remedial education and welfare assistance, promoting and providing access for children with disabilities, and helps those at greatest risk of truancy or family and school abandonment rehabilitating children at risk, and reintegrating them into mainstream education.

Every year, for the weeks running up to Christmas, as part  of CIDUK’s Shoebox Appeal 2017  parents, teachers and children in the schools across the UK  and parishioners in different churches begin collecting many little gifts, which then, with love, they put in beautifully wrapped shoeboxes. These boxes are carefully packed, loaded and shipped in the special trucks, which replace Santa Claus’s sleigh to bring them to be gifted to Romanian babies, infants, children and senior citizens in the greatest need. This “Love in a Box” Christmas Shoebox Appeal brings joy to the souls of children in living in the direst need.

The CID Ro Foundation willingly takes on the responsibility of sharing the kindness of donors and the resulting Santa's gifts. The CID Ro team always enjoy the opportunity of seeing that the Shoeboxes reach their deserving destination. Santa Claus even comes from the UK, to share the excitement and joy this appeal brings to children's faces, the joy of receiving a shoebox bringing with gifts, full of sweets, pencils, coloring books, toys. This year, some deserving schoolchildren had the pleasure of the presence of Nigel Richardson (CID’s volunteer Santa Claus) and his little helper, Valentina Zaharia, the Executive Director of the CID Romania Foundation. Santa celebrated with his team of helpers, by distributing the’ Love in a Box’ gift boxes to children with special educational needs in Călăraşi. The following school  were involved: The Kindergarten with Extended Program "Friends" - CES "Ursuletii" Group; "Step by Step" Kindergarten - CES "Bunnies" Group; Carol I High School, Specialized Integrated Education - ESC Preschool Group, CES A, B and 1st grade preparatory classes.

The teachers and children involved thank the Children in Distress Ro Foundation Romania, the volunteers and donors of CID UK’s Shoebox Appeal and Santa Claus for the special gifts given to the children of Jud Călăraşi with special educational needs.
